Wake Up on Mars

A 10-year-old Roma boy living in Sweden attempts to come to terms with the mysterious Resignation Syndrome that has put his sisters in a coma. His tight-knit family is trying to rebuild a normal life far from their native Kosovo where they were victims of persecution. While their entire future hangs in the balance of a pending asylum request, the little boy dreams of building a spaceship to leave it all behind. 

 

«Wake Up on Mars» or «Réveil sur Mars» in French, is produced by Amok Films, production company based in Paris, Mélisande Films, Sophie Faudel’s production company also based in Paris and by Alva Film, represented by Britta Rindelaub and Jasmin Basic based in Geneva, Switzerland. 

 

This film is supported by the Sundance Institute documentary film programme since May 2018 and was awarded the pitching prize «Perspectives d’un doc» at Visions du Réel, Switzerland in April 2018.

 

It is co-produced by la Radio Télévision Suisse in association with France Télévisions. Wake Up on Mars is supported by le CNC, la Procirep Angoa, la loterie Romande, l'OFC, Cinéforom, le fonds de production télévisuel, la fondation UBS, la fondation Ford / Just Films, le Doha Film Institute and the Perspective Fund.

 

It is also part of the production assistance programme by Women Make Movies. Dea also participated in the 2019 Film Independent Documentary Lab with Wake Up on Mars. Cat & Docs is the sales representative for this film. 

 

Dea presented and pitched «Wake Up on Mars» at the Sundance Talent Forum 2019.
