SYNOPSIS

When Camélia learns that her father Mohamed-Lamine has decided to Frenchify his name, a rift opens. Through their conversation about his immigration journey, which accompanies Camélia’s own travels to Algeria, the complex relationship between their two countries begins to take shape.

Camélia Gadhgadhi is a 23 year old Franco-Algerian filmmaker born in the suburbs of Paris. She obtained a master’s degree in cinema and worked on a number of film sets before writing, directing and producing UNZARI, her first short film (distributed by Messina Films, in Tokyo in 2019.)

She currently works as a writing coordinator and assistant show-runner on the first French Apple TV show, which is in pre-production. She is also in the final steps of post-production for La Nuit, her second short film, which she self-produced and shot in Paris in 2021.
